The Ajaka Independent Youths Support Association AIYSA for short, has reacted to a petition said to have been submitted to the Inspector-General of Police by some CSOs in Abuja calling for the arrest of Alhaji Muritala Yakubu Ajaka who is the candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, in the November 11 governorship election in Kogi State.
The General Coordinator of the group, Gideon Onoja, in a Press Release he signed in Lokoja on Sunday October 8 frowned at the action of “so-called Civil Society Organizations” that are supposed to be politically neutral but have chosen to go partisan in the internal political affairs of Kogi State.
The release by the Group’s General Coordinator said “It has come to our attention the petition submitted by so-called Civil Society Organizations, Coalition for Credible Elections, to the Police IG on the violence that has been happening since the commencement of governorship election campaign in Kogi State. Their petition lacked merit because Civil Society Organizations are supposed to be politically neutral but these ones just based their petition on speculation and social media misrepresentation. They are a group that don’t know anything about Kogi politics but believe in government propaganda and the partiality of the Kogi State Police Commissioner who has not hide his hatred for Alhaji Muritala Ajaka who is the next governor of Kogi State by God’s grace.
“We are suspicious of those people because after submitting petitions to the Police headquarters, they still went ahead to say they are doing peace rally for Kogi State and at that same peace rally they were making serious allegations against Alhaji Ajaka. That immediately destroyed their so-called peace rally. You cannot be making accusations against one party in a dispute and asking for peace at the same time. They know nothing about Kogi State politics but because they read about the Police Commissioner attacking our principal in the media and the state government making noise in the media whereas it is the Governor’s thugs that have been disturbing the state since campaign started.
“We challenge these ignorant and biased activists to come to Kogi State on fact-finding mission to hear directly from the Kogites and they will know that the current governor and his people has history of political violence during election. Their rally is not seeking peace but instigating the police against Alhaji Muritala Yakubu Ajaka and we will not take it.
“We have detailed reports of the atrocities being committed by the APC and Governor Yahaya Bello’s errand boys against our candidate and we shall submit a counter-petition against them to the IG of Police and DSS director this week. They should expect our show of force soon as we embark on one million youths march for Alhaji Muritala Ajaka.
“We haven’t collected one Naira from him since we started this movement but we will stand by him until he wins in November. The petition against him is sponsored one and that rally is a rally to support APC candidate not for Kogi State interest. Throughout their address to the media, the object of their attack was Alhaji Muritala Ajaka. They didn’t criticize the state government or APC once. It was all against Alhaji Muritala Ajaka
“The people of Abuja and Nigeria should not be deceived. Alhaji Muritala Yakubu Ajaka is the most peaceful and amiable candidate among all the candidate. He is a complete gentleman that can never hurt a fly not to talk of killing anyone. They know that he will win the next governorship election in Kogi State landslide merging is the reason they are using Civil Society Organizations and media against him but they have failed totally. Yahaya Bello is an unpopular governor whose candidate doesn’t stand a chance in the coming election.
“The IG should simply ignore the nonsense petition submitted to his office by those Civil Societies that are already biased or bought with money. They are sponsored to do what they did and that’s why you can see that didn’t see anything bad to report about APC and their unknown and unpopular candidate who cannot win even in his ward. In the next governorship election in Kogi State Alhaji Muritala Ajaka has no rival and will win convincingly is the reason they want him out of the race bit we shall stand by him to the end.
“We call on the police authorities to caution the current CP in the state and transfer him before the election because he is in the pocket of Yahaya Bello. We shall take necessary steps to enlighten Nigerians more on the realities on ground in Kogi State to show who are the real criminals disturbing the peace of Kogi State and not Alhaji Muritala Yakubu Ajaka a man already ordained by God to be the next governor of our dear state”.
The group stated that it will organize a real peace rally for Kogi State to the national assembly soon as all preparations are in full gear.
