Right actoivist and Public Commentator, Comrade Razaq Olokoba has described the Award bestowed on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu by a frontline newspaper, The Sun Publishing Company as an endorsement of the governor’s second term in office.
Olokoba in a chat with newsmen in Lagos Wednesday expressed tha belief that that media outfif must have been keeping taps on his performance since 2019 before coming to the conclusion that he merits to be honoured as The Governor of the Year 2021 during their annual Award Ceremony in Lagos weekend.
While describing the Award as befitting and appropriate, Olokoba, who is also the National President of the Campaign for Dignity in Governance (CDG), however expressed the delights that The Sun Award has confirmed that other Awards bestowed on Sanwo-Olu both locally and internationally were not flukes at all, commending The Sun management for their thoughtfulness in doing the appropriate thing at the appropriate time.
According to him, several other Awards in the past like the Prestigious Silverbird Man of the Year Award, Vanguard Award among others are testimonies that good works are like the smoke that can never be concealed, saying the harder one tries to conceal it, the more it escapes to the atmosphere.
The youthful activist and public analyst therefore expressed the need for the people of Lagos State to keep supporting the governor and encouraging him to do more just as he congratulated the governor and his able team on this prestigious Award, saying its heart-warming, praise-worthy and a cause for celebration.
Olokoba further expressed the conviction that, the Award would be seen by the governor as a clarion call to do more since human beings are naturally created as the proverbial Oliver Twist who would always ask for more, believing that Sanwo-Olu would always be equal to the task as usual.
According to him, the view of the awarding institution that Sanwo-Olu’s nomination for the prize followed his commitment to “regenerate the Lagos landscape and scale up public infrastructure to address evolving challenges observed in the socio-economic environment, especially in the transportation sector,” could not be faulted, saying, “Sanwo-Olu’s trade mark is transformational agenda as encapsulated in his THEMES agenda.
Against this background, the CDG boss noted that, “nothing promotes any administrator’s image than excellent performance in his/her position of authority,” enthusing that, “with this latest Award at this point in time, Sanwo-Olu’s second term in office appears a forgone conclusion.”
