Governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Dr. Samuel Mawuyon Ajose, has weighed in on the recent endorsement of Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Hamzat, urging the party to prioritise transparency and fairness in its decision-making process.
Speaking during an appearance on ARISE TV’s The Morning Show, Ajose acknowledged that political endorsements are legally and constitutionally valid. However, he stressed that such moves must be handled with inclusiveness and openness to avoid internal discontent among party members.
While reaffirming his loyalty to the APC, Ajose maintained that he would respect any outcome reached by the party leadership, provided due process is followed in the overall interest of unity and cohesion.
He argued that engaging all leading aspirants before arriving at an endorsement would have strengthened consensus within the party. According to him, clearly communicating the basis for backing a particular candidate is essential to securing widespread support and preventing avoidable divisions.
Ajose also lent his voice to the growing call for Badagry to produce the next governor of Lagos State, describing the demand as both reasonable and long overdue. He decried what he termed decades of neglect of the axis, insisting that the zone deserves a fair shot at leadership after years on the sidelines.
Highlighting his credentials, the businessman-turned-politician said his acceptance within Badagry and beyond is driven by his record in enterprise development and human capacity building.
He cautioned against framing the governorship race as a contest of hostility, instead advocating for a level playing field where all aspirants can compete fairly.
Ajose expressed confidence in his vision for Lagos, noting that he possesses the capacity to unlock new economic opportunities across the state. While commending Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for ongoing developmental strides, he pledged to consolidate on existing achievements and drive further growth.
The aspirant, who leads a business group employing over 300 people, said his administration—if elected—would draw heavily on private sector expertise to deliver sustainable development and improved governance in Lagos State.
