A youth pro-democracy organization, Sanwo-Olu Youth Vanguard (SYV), has signified its preparedness to purchase the nomination form for Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu at the appropriate time to show him that the people of Lagos State and beyond are yearning for his second coming as governor in 2023.
Leader of the group, Comrade Adewale Oladipupo, in a media chat Saturday in Lagos said, “our decision to foot the nomination Bill was reached at the weekly meeting on Friday, where the members present unanimously agreed to spearhead the governor’s second term project.”
While spelling out the motive behind the decision, Oladipupo said, it was borne out of patriotism for the people of the state, who are yearning for more superlative performances from Sanwo-Olu, asserting that, “Sanwo-Olu, who has not disappointed us so far, will not disappoint us if given the second term opportunity to complete some projects he has started and even do more.”
When asked whether the governor has shown interest in the second term in office, Oladipupo also asked, “is there any offence in urging him to do the needful in the interest of the generality of the people,” reminding that, “it is never out of place for the people to play ‘Oliver Twist’ where the welfare of the people as guaranteed by the constitution is concerned.”
The right crusader further informed that, volunteering to foot the bill for the nomination form for the governor was a sign of appreciation for the good job he has been doing since 2019 with a view to encouraging him to do more, adding that, “it is also a case of reciprocity for a good turn that deserves another.”
While explaining that the group is not being prompted from any quarter to take the decision, its Convener asserted that, “we are a group of matured individuals who are doing well in our various chosen careers,” explaining that, “the step being taken is part of our social responsibilities to assist the society to get the best from governance.”
According to him, the organization would not wait till Sanwo-Olu declares before getting the Nomination Form fund ready, assuring that, “at the appropriate time, we will just lead a carnival to him with the form with the enthusiasm that he will not reject it or deny us the respect we have for him.”
The organization’s leader therefore expressed the need to team up to encourage Governor Sanwo-Olu to come back for a second term in office for the benefit of the good people of
Lagos State and the residents, frowning at a situation whereby the winning team would be abruptly stopped midway into the game.
