If the information reaching our office is anything to go by, a massive rally of almost a hundred pro-democracy organizations, human rights groups and non-governmental outfits (NGO), across Lagos State and beyond would soon shake the state to its background to appreciate the good work of state Governor. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu (BOS).
The rally, according to a reliable source, is just to thank him for being a jolly good fellow for the good people of the state, adding that, the event would also sensitise the people on what to do when the time comes for electioneering for the 2023 elections, the people of the state would decide on what to do.
He reminded that, Sanwo-Olu is a known Angel that deserves to be reconsidered when the time comes for another round of elections since he still has the constitutional right to go for a second term, enthusing that, the Lagos State people that chose rightly in 2019 would also choose correctly in 2023.
Speaking further, the source said, the rally would by all standard conform with all the legal and democratic laid down rules and regulations that would guarantee the highest degree of peace and harmony in the state, asserting that, the rally would not be partisan as its organizers are not politicians but, are citizens that are impressed by the achievements of the governor in office.
Our findings show that, the organizers, who have raised a 10-man organizing /mobilization committee, are already holding meetings across the state to fine-tune strategies and modalities towards the success of the rally.
It was also gathered that, the rally would not be allowed to be sponsored by anybody and would not be allowed to be hijacked by any political interest either within or outside the state because the participating groups are patriotic citizen of the state who want to appreciate good work and encourage any performer to do more.
“When a good work is appreciated, the doer would be gingered to do more because appreciation of good gesture is a clarion call to do more,” said an activist, Comrade Adewale Oladipupo of the Epe Youth Forum, who however said, “though, I have not been formally briefed, I am aware of the rally and members of my Forum are prepared to be part of it if eventually contacted.”
Speaking in the same vein, Comrade Omolola Oriade of the Yoruba Radical Assembly (YRA), who saw nothing wrong in the proposed rally, said, “it is to show that the people of Lagos are not ingrate who would not be thankful to someone with a heart of commitment to the service of humanity like Sanwo-Olu and his team.”
