Governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Dr. Samuel Mawuyon Ajose, has declared that his bid for the state’s top seat is driven by a desire to serve, rather than personal ambition, with a strong focus on advancing the interests of Badagry and other underserved areas.
Speaking during a live appearance on Gbagede Oro Special Edition on Rainbow 94.1 FM, Ajose outlined his vision for a government that prioritises inclusivity and grassroots impact, stressing that no community would be sidelined under his leadership.
While addressing internal party dynamics, Ajose stated that he holds no grievances against the Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Hamzat, but maintained that fairness demands that all aspirants be duly engaged before any endorsement is made by party leaders.
He expressed concern over what he described as mixed signals from some APC elders, noting that individuals who had initially encouraged his ambition later threw their weight behind another candidate.
Despite the developments, Ajose reaffirmed his commitment to the democratic process, pledging to accept the outcome of a credible and transparent primary election conducted in accordance with the Electoral Act 2026.
The businessman-turned-politician also highlighted his loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, asserting that his pledge to mobilise 3.5 million votes for the President’s re-election remains firm. He added that he has made significant personal financial contributions toward promoting the President’s agenda across Lagos and the wider South West region.
Ajose further called on party leadership to address what he termed the longstanding neglect of Badagry by initiating meaningful developmental interventions in the area.
He disclosed that attempts to secure a meeting with the President had so far been unsuccessful.
Concluding, Ajose revealed that he has been approached by opposition figures both within Lagos and nationally to pursue his ambition on their platforms, but insisted that his loyalty to the APC remains unshaken.
