The Executive Chairman of Mosan-Okunola Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Akindele Adunni Opeyemi, on Wednesday swore in seasoned administrator, financial expert and philanthropist, Alawaye AbdulHameed Ayodele, as the new Secretary to the Local Government (SLG).
The swearing-in followed a surprise announcement by the chairman during the council’s 2026 Interfaith Ramadan/Lenten Welfare Programme themed “Unity and Love Amongst All,” held at the LCDA secretariat hall.
The event was attended by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Akintola Falade; members of the legislative arm of the LCDA led by the council leader, Hon. Tosin Afuwape SNR; members of the management staff led by the Council Manager, Pastor Joseph Abiodun; party leaders from the five wards in the LCDA; religious and traditional leaders; representatives of Community Development Committees (CDC) and Community Development Associations (CDA); People Living with Disabilities (PLWD), among others.
Midway into her remarks, shortly after lectures were delivered by Chief Imam Shuaib Aminullahi Okandeji and Rev. Duro Olaniyan, the chairman made the unexpected announcement that the lanky, grey-bearded philanthropist, popularly known as Triple A, would be sworn in as the Secretary to the Local Government.
Alawaye, who was seated on the high table, appeared visibly surprised when the announcement was made, momentarily looking around in amazement before rising to acknowledge the applause that followed from the audience.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Akindele explained that Alawaye’s appointment was informed by his commitment and humble disposition.
“I didn’t plan this earlier, but we are swearing in our Secretary to the Local Government (SLG), and the person we have chosen is Alawaye,” she said.
“He is a party man, a giver, and he understands the nitty-gritty of politics as far as Mosan-Okunola LCDA is concerned. Therefore, there is no better person for the SLG position than him, and that is why he has been chosen.”
The chairman also urged career officers in the LCDA to cooperate with the new SLG to ensure effective and seamless administration of the council.
