The Executive Chairman of Ayobo-Ipaja Local Council Development Area, Hon. Agbaje Lukmon Abiodun, Alimosho, Lagos has launched an intensive clean-up exercise along the Camp Davies/Isefun Road corridor as part of efforts to tackle indiscriminate waste dumping and improve environmental sanitation in the area.

According to a press statement by the Chief Press Secretary, Comrade Amuwa Mayowa, the initiative, carried out within the council area, targets the persistent problem of refuse being dumped on the road median, a development that has raised environmental and safety concerns for residents and motorists using the route.

During the operation, modern compact cleaning equipment was deployed to evacuate accumulated waste from the corridor, while the Head of Department (Environment), Mrs. Babajide Racheal, supervised the exercise to ensure effective execution.

Speaking during the clean-up, Hon. Agbaje reiterated his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on environmental violations, urging residents to adopt responsible waste disposal habits by patronising approved Private Sector Participation (PSP) waste operators.

According to him, the council will not condone activities that threaten public health or undermine environmental standards.

“We will no longer tolerate actions that endanger public health and degrade our environment. Collective responsibility is essential if we must build a cleaner, safer and healthier community,” he said.

As part of efforts to sustain environmental sanitation reforms, the council has also introduced monitoring mechanisms and enforcement measures, including strict penalties for individuals found violating environmental regulations.

The clean-up campaign forms part of the council’s broader agenda to strengthen sanitation management, improve infrastructure and promote a sustainable urban environment across the local council development area.

Hon. Agbaje further reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining cleanliness and preserving the aesthetic appeal of Camp Davies/Isefun Road and adjoining communities.
