The Group Chief Executive of Oando Group, Adewale Tinubu, has congratulated the Super Falcons and all Nigerians on the team’s remarkable achievement after winning the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

The oil magnate, in a statement posted on his social media handle, praised the team for their resilience, grit, and demonstration of the indomitable Nigerian spirit.

“Congratulations to the Super Falcons.

To come back from a 2-0 deficit and win the WAFCON final against the host country is a masterclass in grit and the Nigerian spirit of courage and resilience.

Ten WAFCON titles. Complete dominance. #MissionX.

You’ve carried the hopes of a nation and done so with grace and the sheer force of will.

Nigeria stands proud because of you.

We thank you, ladies,” he wrote.

It was a moment of national celebration on Saturday night as the Super Falcons staged a dramatic comeback from two goals down to defeat hosts Morocco 3-2 in the final at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, clinching their record-extending 10th continental crown.

Despite a raucous and hostile Moroccan crowd, the Nigerian team stunned the footballing world with a spirited and courageous performance.

Esther Okoronkwo’s penalty in the 64th minute sparked the comeback, followed by Flourish Ijamilusi’s equalizer in the 71st minute. Then, with just minutes left, Jennifer Echegini netted the decisive goal in the 88th minute, crushing Moroccan hopes and reaffirming Nigeria’s dominance in African women’s football.
