The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has revoked the land title of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) national secretariat in Abuja due to non-payment of ground rent for two decades.
In a letter dated March 13, 2025, titled “Notice of Right of Occupancy with File No: MISC 81346 in Respect of Plot No: 243 within Central Area District, Abuja,” Wike exercised his powers under the Land Use Act to revoke PDP’s rights, interests, and privileges over the property.
The letter, signed by the Director of Land Administration, Chijioke Nwankwoeze, cited the party’s failure to settle outstanding ground rent from January 1, 2006, to January 1, 2025, despite multiple public notices.
The FCT Administration has now taken possession of the property, emphasizing that allottees must comply with land use regulations.
This development follows Wike’s earlier revocation of 4,794 land titles across the FCT due to non-payment of ground rent, amounting to nearly ₦7 billion over 40 years.
