President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm congratulations to Mallam Mele Kolo Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), on the occasion of his 60th birthday, which falls on January 8, 2025.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President lauded Kyari’s exemplary leadership and transformative efforts in steering the NNPCL toward profitability.
President Tinubu highlighted key milestones achieved under Kyari’s tenure, including the revival of two refineries, the increase in domestic natural gas consumption, and the boost in crude oil production to 1.8 million barrels per day, despite initial skepticism in some quarters.
The President described Kyari as a dedicated and professional leader who has made significant contributions to the nation’s energy sector throughout his illustrious career at the NNPC and OPEC. He further commended Kyari’s trailblazing role as the first Group Chief Executive Officer of the restructured NNPCL.
“Kyari is a shining example and embodiment of the ideals of the Renewed Hope Agenda. I commend his commitment to creating new opportunities and ensuring the growth and sustainability of Nigeria’s energy sector,” President Tinubu stated.
The President also prayed for Kyari’s continued good health, wisdom, and strength as he continues to serve the nation while mentoring the next generation of leaders in the energy sector.
