The All Progressives Congress (APC) launched a renewed critique of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Tuesday, calling him “Africa’s most infamous presidential election loser.”
This statement, issued by APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka, follows Atiku’s recent claim that he did not lose the 2023 presidential election, alleging instead that his mandate was “criminally stolen.”
Reacting to Atiku’s statement, shared on his official X handle, Morka asserted that the former Vice President’s record of repeated electoral defeats had eroded his credibility.
“Make no mistake,” Morka said, “Atiku is Africa’s most infamous presidential election loser. Since serving as vice president, he has lost to every elected Nigerian president, facing rejection six times over the past 17 years.”
Morka criticized Atiku’s ongoing refusal to accept his loss in the 2023 election as “beyond comical,” suggesting that Atiku might believe he was similarly “cheated” in his five previous losses. This persistent denial, Morka added, reflects “extreme and disturbing political desperation.”
Highlighting the trust issues raised during Atiku’s tenure, Morka recalled former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s remark that “if I support Atiku for anything, God will not forgive me,” framing it as evidence of public concern over Atiku’s leadership credentials.
Morka concluded by stating that Nigerian voters would not “act against their own best interests” by electing a candidate with such a controversial record.
