The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, recently met with the wives of State Governors, who also serve as the State Coordinators of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).
The meeting primarily focused on informing and updating them about the various support programmes undertaken by the RHI.
The First Lady emphasized that the Initiative remains committed to its core mission of providing “a better life for families” through these programmes.
“Additionally, we are set to launch the Renewed Hope Initiative Women Economic Empowerment Programme for petty traders. Under this scheme, RHI will provide a ₦50,000 grant each to 1,000 women petty traders in the 36 states and the FCT.
“The program is designed to recapitalize existing small businesses and support their growth. The official launch is scheduled for August 22, 2024. I urge states that are yet to submit their list of beneficiaries to do so promptly,” said the First Lady.
“In agriculture, we will be working with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture. The National Agricultural Development Fund (NADFUND) has also reached out to us to train female farmers in each state and the FCT,” she added.
The First Lady noted that these and other policies and programmes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are all aimed at ensuring a more prosperous nation and people.
“In education, RHI is collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Education, the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), and the African Union Development Agency – New Partnership for Africa’s Development (AUDA-NEPAD). It is also noteworthy that the unveiling of 200 awardees under the AUDA-NEPAD/RHI Scholarship Programme will take place tomorrow, August 1, 2024,” she concluded.
