There are undeniable issues in the land, and we deeply sympathize with the citizens facing these challenges. However, we must ask ourselves: why the protest, and why now?
The current administration, led by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has achieved more positives than negatives since its inception. Yet, those still struggling with the consequences of losing the election are determined to make the country ungovernable.
The issues we are currently battling stem from years of bad governance. This is precisely what President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is striving to correct. To call for protests now is not just premature; it’s counterproductive. This administration is only a year old—what miraculous transformations do these protesters expect within such a short span?
We are not against protests; citizens have the right to voice their grievances. However, these protests should be conducted in an orderly manner. The faceless protest agitators point out that Asiwaju himself engaged in protests in the past, but they overlook the fact that he did so with decorum. He never resorted to destroying properties or government establishments.
Funnily, those calling for protests have never engaged their respective representatives or state governors in dialogue about how the significant federal allocations are being utilized. If you want to protest, do so without disrupting others’ livelihoods. Don’t block airports, business premises, or express roads. And above all, don’t target our beloved Lagos, which is still grappling with the aftermath of the EndSARS protests where monuments and government properties were razed and policemen killed without consequence.
We have recordings of instigators directing hoodlums, disguised as protesters, to burn down Lagos and target Tinubu’s properties. We will not allow such carnage in Lagos again. Enough is enough.
If you are determined to protest, identify your leaders, submit your contacts and details to the police, and conduct your demonstrations in your respective states. Let’s keep Lagos safe and thriving for all its residents.
