A pro-democracy and human rights organization, Campaign for Dignity in Governance (CDG), has urged the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to use the internal crisis resolution mechanism to resolve the impasse occasioned by the dropping of some cabinet nominees sent to the House of Assembly for screening by the Stat Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.
In a statement personally signed and made available to the media in Lagos Tuesday, Convener and National President of the group, Comrade Razaq Olokoba said “since the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa has said that there is no misunderstanding between the governor and the house, a window of settlement has been provided and so should be utilised for peace to reign.”
According to Olokoba, individual and collective efforts of the stakeholders that led to the victory of the party should not be allowed to waste away, saying, “the efforts were to usher in more dividends of democracy for all and sundry and not to turn to sorrow and discomfort.”
The CDG boss, who is with high conviction that, the party with its leadership can boast of effective crisis resolution mechanism that has been solving bigger crisis than the one presently at hand is no doubt capable of dousing the tension rearing its head now, warning that, “there is no amount of peace, comfort and friendship that can be too much for a state like Lagos, which is like several states put together.”
Olokoba even extended his appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to also look back and rectify the imbroglio not because Lagos is his home base but because he is the overall father of the country to whom every state belongs, waxing philosophical that, any part of the country that is boiling could be likened to any part of the President’s body aching and should be attended to.
Against this background the renowned human rights activist and vocal social analyst restated the need for all hands to be on deck to prevent the seeming crisis from festering further for the general good, wellbeing and welfare of the generality of the people and resident of the state, reminding the citizenry of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s promised commitment to better second term than the first in office.
Concluding, with what the speaker has said, Olokoba did not rule out successful outing for the dropped nominees should governor Sanwo-Olu re-present them for second screening, believing that, “all everybody is doing is aimed at the same purpose of growth, progress and development of the state.
