Coalition of 70 pro-democracy groups and human rights organizations has expressed endorsement of the former Governor of Kano State and the immediate past Spokesman of the Senate, Abdullahi Ganduje and Senator Suraju Bashiru Ajibola as National Chairman and National General Secretary respectively of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Coalition, under the umbrella of the Campaign for Dignity in Governance (CDG), expressed its delight in the duo’s elevation in a statement signed by its Convener and National President, Comrade Razaq Olokoba, who described the duo as, “Round round pegs in round holes,” adding, “Ajibola, is particularly one of us in the realm of activism.”
Olokoba in the statement did not forget to remind that, the two recently chosen by the party are already tested and trusted hands in the field of politics and governance, reminding that, “while Abdulahi Ganduje has been in the corridors of power in Kano state that is the largest states in the country for 12 years as Deputy Governor and later Governor, Ajibola Bashiru, a lawyer of note has also been several years in government as commissioner in Osun, his home state.”
According to the statement, these two grassroots politicians of vast experience will surely prove beyond reasonable doubt as assets than liabilities to the party, congratulating the APC on its successful catching two big fishes to handle the affairs of the party in a robust and effective manner.
The statement also expressed the conviction that, the new Chairman, Ganduje will deliver on his commitment to win all the coming gubernatorial elections coming up soon across the country, saying, “There were precedence in the past where Ganduje, against all odds scaled through to win elections to the admiration of his friends and foes alike.”
Barrister Surajudeen Ajibola Bashiru, Olokoba revealed, would bring his professional acumen as a lawyer and former Commissioner for Justice/Attorney General, with his linguistic prowess as a scholar that speaks English and Arabic languages fluently to bear in office to the benefit and advantage of the party and by extension to the country as a whole, stating that, “with the duo on board, the opposition must have gone back to the drawing board by now to shore up their strategies to accommodate Ganduje/Bashiru phenomenon.”
Recall recently, batons of leadership of the ruling APC changed hands when its National Chairman, Senator Adamu and its National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore resigned from office. The development led to shopping for their replacements. Eventually, the leadership of the party settled for the duo of the former Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje and former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore.
