Presenting the award to Alawiye-King, Opeseitan said: “Since your emergence as Chairman of LASUBEB, we have observed your passion and tireless commitment towards ensuring that pupils in our schools receive the best education possible.

“It is safe to conclude that you have a knack for excellent service delivery and you have embarked on novel initiatives that have redefined primary education not only in Lagos but across the country.

“The EKO Excellence in Child Education and Learning programme, popularly known as Eko Excel, which is under your supervision, has continued to earn Lagos State global and local accolades for fostering a 21st Century education that is child-centered and enabled by modern practices and technology.”

Opeseitan added that LASUBEB, under Alawiye-King’s leadership, has implemented various people-oriented initiatives that have contributed in no small measure towards ensuring access to quality education for all, as well as improving significantly on the welfare of teachers and other stakeholders within the primary education ecosystem.

Chairman of the Awards Committee, Mr. Adewale Ojeleye said the Board of LMT unanimously voted Alawiye-King as the recipient of the inaugural award of excellence in educational reforms due to the laudable projects so far initiated and completion of inherited ones in line with the policy thrust of the administration of Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.

“This award to you (Alawiye-King) is to encourage you to continue your remarkable job of working for the growth and development of the state, whilst also serving as a motivating factor for others to give their best,” Ojeleye said.

Responding, Alawiye-King commended LMT for the award, saying that it would spur him to continue to work in the best interest of pupils in primary schools in the state.

“For us, education is a powerful tool that can be used to change the world. We believe access, equity, and most importantly quality are some of the things you need to improve primary education in Nigeria and that is what we have been doing.

“We want to deeply thank the Lagos Monitoring Team for this award and we are dedicating it to all our teachers and pupils in Lagos State,” he said.

LMT, which debuted in June 2019, was conceived as a Media Platform to keep people abreast of activities of government, with the view to galvanizing their buy-in and support.

With over 72,000 followers and still counting who are regularly updated with news of happenings, especially in Lagos and Nigeria at large, LMT has become an authoritative news platform for prompt and credible news.
