Spurred by the spiritual ambience and sacredness of the Hajj season, members of Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN) have organized special prayers for Senator (Dr.) Idiat Oluranti Adebule and Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan seeking Allah’s guidance and wisdom for the duo in the discharge of their national assignments.
While Dr. Adebule is among the 109 senators of the Federal Republic inaugurated on June 13, 2023 as the legislators of the upper chamber of the 10th National Assembly, Alhaji Hassan is the Chairman/CEO of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) coordinating the efficient participation of 95,000 pilgrims from Nigeria in the ongoing 2023 hajj exercise.
Specifically, Dr. Adebule represents the Lagos West senatorial district at the National Assembly.
Members of the MMPN that coordinated the prayers were among the National Media Team empaneled by the NAHCON for the coverage of the religious exercise which brings over 2 million Muslims across the globe to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
During the special prayers led by the Weekend Editor of The Guardian, Dr. Kabir Alabi Garba, the congregation recited some selected supplications of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) extracted from ‘Adhkar Al-mathuraat’.
They also recited together the last ten chapters of the Glorious Qur’an to seek Allah’s guardance and protection for the two Muslim leaders.
“We thank Allah who made it possible for us to gather in Masjid An Nabawi, one of the holiest mosques of Islam, in honour of Senator Idiat Oluranti Adebule and Alhaji Zikrullah Hasan. I pray for Allah’s acceptance of our prayers”, said Dr. Tunde Akanni, HOD, Mass Communication, Lagos State University (LASU).
In his lecture which centered on leadership, Dr. Akanni, thanked Allah for the vision He gave the duo of Dr Adebule and Alhaji Zikrullah Hassan, who have succeeded in inspiring a lot of people with their exemplary leadership qualities.
“More importantly, they have been discharging their responsibilities while abiding by the tenet of islam,” he noted.
Dr. Akanni therefore called on the Muslims to cultivate and sustain leadership in line with the dictates of Islam.
According to him, “all of us are living witnesses to the fact that they have managed to lead smaller consistencies before they attain their current leadership position. It’s therefore up to the rest of us who are looking up to them for further leadership positions, to cultivate and sustain leadership in line with Islamic principles.
“For us as Muslims, there is nothing that should be treasured as abiding by the principles of Islam as provided for in the Quran and Hadith of the Prophet (SAW),” he noted.
Some of the respected journalists including the publisher of HajjPanorama, Alhaji Mikail Mumeen; CEO of Aims Media, Alhaja Aminah Muhammad and Alhaji Bello Ozugha of the Eaagle Online offered supplications for their accomplishments in office, as they also used the occasion to pray for Nigeria especially the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Let’s at this point also remember our President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who has become a pride of Islam and the pride of the country. We pray to Allah to make it easy for him and the team he has selected and those to be selected in the future. Ameen,” Alhaja Muhammad prayed.
In his closing remark, the converner, Alhaji Tajudeen Adebanjo of The Nation, extolled his colleagues for gracing the special prayer session in honour of Dr. Adebule and Alhaji Hassan.
“We pray that Allah (SWT) continue to be with them and guide them in this leadership position and we also pray for ourselves as well. Thank you very much for coming, we pray that Allah (SWT) continue to bless each and everyone of us,” he concluded.
