Political Scientist, Dr. Babatunde Adewunmi cautions Nigerians against manipulation of section of the constitution on votes required for President to emerge at 2023 polls.
Dr. Adewunmi who made the caution in a statement made available to our correspondent described the Presidential Election as highly competitive.
He said if the election was rigged as claimed in some quarters, Peter Obi could not have won Tinubu in Lagos and Atiku defeating President Buhari in his home state of Katsina.
For him, that the margin between the first three contenders was so close shows that the votes of the people counts at the Election.
Dr Adewunmi however said that the decision of the Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar of the PDP to head to the court is in line with the democratic tenets.
In his review on the outcome of the election, the Political scientist said there were reports of an attempt to hack the INEC server when the exercise was on.
According to him, the fact that INEC could not immediately upload the results from the Presidential election could not have undermined the process.
On what is required to win the Presidential election, Dr Adewunmi cautioned Nigerians against any attempt to manipulate or misinterprete section 299 of the 1999 constitution as amended.
He expressed believe that there was nothing to discourage Nigerians to return to the poll during the March 11th Governorship and House of Assembly Elections.
Dr Adewunmi strongly belive that Tinubu will select competent Nigerians to work with in changing the narratives and reposition the nation’s economy.
