The group made this endorsement and call on Sunday, 10 May, 2026, during a Special Congregational Prayer for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, held at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos. The endorsement, according to the group was made based on the exemplary leadership, commitment to democratic ideals, and developmental strides recorded under the leadership of President Tinubu, and expressing confidence in the capacity of the Deputy Governor to sustain progressive governance and deliver greater prosperity for the people of Lagos State.

Over 50,000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the length and breadth of the state participated in the prayer session.

Addressing a large crowd of the All Progressive Congress Supporters at the Event, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu described the event as significant for the continued development of both Nigeria and the state, noting that it reflects the government’s commitment to progress, good governance, and the welfare of the people.

He added that the President has consistently introduced policies aimed at improving the livelihoods of Nigerians and strengthening the economy. He noted that this progress underscores the need for party members and citizens to support the President’s second-term bid, as well as to sustain the ongoing development of Lagos by voting for the Deputy Governor in the interest of continuity.

The Convener of the Renewed Hope Network Initiative (TRN), Lagos State, Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a courageous and consistent democrat whose leadership is laying the foundation for a prosperous Nigeria, stating that the president believes that Nigeria’s democracy can only thrive when leaders place national interest above personal ambition.

His words. “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has shown what real democratic leadership truly demands: consistency of vision, loyalty to the collective project, and the discipline to build institutions instead of destroying them for quick personal gain.”

Similarly, in his remarks, the former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as the remarkable leadership and sacrifices he has made for the growth and stability of Nigeria.

Bello noted that Tinubu had endured decades of political struggles and remained steadfast in his commitment to democratic governance and national development, despite numerous challenges and opposition encountered along the way.

“President’s pivotal role in the formation and strengthening of progressive political platforms from the Alliance for Democracy (AD), Action Congress (AC), and Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), to the emergence of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which he now leads as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”, said Bello, adding that Asiwaju’s political consistency, resilience, and unwavering belief in the unity and progress of the country remain clear testimonies to his enduring leadership qualities and statesmanship.

Responding to the endorsement, the Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, urged Lagosians to come out in large numbers to vote for Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all candidates of the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 elections, encouraging residents to turn out on Election Day and bring others along to the polling units.

Hamzat emphasized that the President must be supported to continue the work of stabilising and securing Nigeria, noting that the administration has provided direction and leadership for national progress. ” President Tinubu deserves another term to consolidate on the achievements already made and to ensure continued prosperity for citizens.

Earlier in his goodwill message, Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa stated that the gathering is not only to pray, but to reaffirm the party’s collective commitment to the future of Nigeria and Lagos State, adding that prayer is the foundation of strength, but action is the proof of faith.

“Today, our action is clear: we stand firmly behind the re-election of our leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and Dr. Obafemi Kadiri Hamzat, our current Deputy Governor, as the next Governor of our state.

“The re-election of the President is not just about continuity, it is about consolidating the gains of Renewed Hope and ensuring that Nigeria remains on the path of prosperity. We are duty-bound to ensure that we make this happen for the future of this generation and for posterity.

“Similarly ,Dr. Hamzat has proven himself as a loyal, capable, and dedicated servant of the people. His partnership in governance has strengthened Lagos, and his leadership will ensure that our state continues to shine as the heartbeat of Nigeria,” said Obasa.
