A couple of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and human Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), have described the ‘Peace Park’ initiative of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State as another promise fulfilled, saying, “it’s another further walking the talk by the governor who has not been deviating from THEME manifesto of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Setting the tone of the commendation rolling during a telephone chat was the convener and leader of a Lagos based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Pan-Lagos Youth Development Movement, Ogbeni Adewale Oladipupo, who said the park is one of the promise made by the governor for the youth in his electioneering towards the 2019 governorship poll.
According to him, the project is another landmark achievement of Sanwo-Olu’s administration which will no doubt ginger us to mobilise support for his second term from next year, pointing out that, his second term in office would be far better than his first term just as he expressed the confidence that, “in Lagos State today, Sanwo-Olu and his party, All Progressives Congress (APC) has no formidable opposition to challenge them next year.
Speaking in the same manner through the phone with our correspondent is, leader of Egbe Omoluabi Eko (Egbe), Comrade Ibrahim Ekundina, who said the project would serve the dual purpose of peaceful co-existence and venue to foster unity and togetherness in line with the governor’s aim and objectives for the project, commending him for giving the youth clear consideration in his administration.
Ekudina therefore urged the youth and the general public to utilise the initiative of the governor for the purpose it was intended to serve, assuring that members of his group would do their best to make sure that the project would yield the positive result and go a step further to mobilise users of the park for the second term bid of the governor.
Another rights group, Speak Out 24/7 echoed the submission of the earlier speakers by commending Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on the success of the project assuring him of full support of the teeming youth of the state.
Convener of the organization, Comrade Adekunle Adeosun, in chat with news men in Badagry Tuesday added that, “the youth of the state, will, without prompting would love to reciprocate the governor’s recognition for them to support his second term mandate, reasoning that, it is through that that they would enjoy more democratic dividends from next year on.
Convener and National President of Campaign for Dignity in Governance (CDG), Comrade Razaq Kolade Olokoba, in his own remarks on the Peace Park praised Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his laudable initiative that gave birth to the projects assuring him of his group’s support towards making sure that the Park is put into proper use as a convergence venue to discuss peace, progress and progress.
According to him, the recognition being given to the teeming youth of the state has long called for adequate reciprocity from them as a form of appreciation for the governor’s good gesture from them, asserting that, “Sanwo-Olu’s second term in office as far as the youth of this state is concerned, is a task already accomplished.”
Recall that, the Peace Park under discussion is said to be an initiative of the governor is, strategically located at the intersection between Ikorodu Road and the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, which was unveiled on Saturday was also meant to foster unity among residents.
