Within the spate of one year in office, the new leadership of Surulere Local Government led by Bamidele Sulaiman Yusuf has increased the monthly IGR from 7m to 28m.
He said this was made possible through the massive supports of all stakeholders and the blockage of loopholes.
While speaking on the achievements of his administration in the first year in office, Bamidele Sulaiman Yusuf however noted that measures had been put in place to ensure judicious slendings of money realised.
He also commended the Governor for the huge support to the council adding this was largely responsible for the feat recorded in all sectors by his administration within a short period.
According to the council boss, major connecting roads are undergoing a face lift while the council Secretariat as well as the Legislative Building are being reconstructed for greater and maximum use of the officials.
He also disclosed that two successive Summer Coaching have been organised for students as those with best scores were given free G.C.E and JAMB forms to further their education.
In the area of poverty alleviation, Bamidele Sulaiman Yusuf said hundreds of petty traders from all wards within the council area have been placed on a monthly financial support.
” About 400 residents have benefitted from the skill acquisition programmes for various vocation and supported with necessary equipment and cass for start ups at the end of the exercise” . End of quote.
The council boss who is appreciative of the supports enjoyed from residents and other stakeholders assured of more projects that will have direct impact on their lives.
He further said that regular free health screening exercise in collaboration with a foundation have been conducted to cater for health challenges of residents with those in need of surgery assisted.
