The Lagos State House of Assembly has not passed any law that bothers on the Sharia legal system as ia being spread by some people. It’s fake news.
Just like in other Southern States, Lagos operatea the Criminal Code which streamlines it to the establishment of Customary courts, not Sharia.
Northern states operate the Penal code which gives opportunity for the creation of Sharia courts.
The above explanation, therefore, shows a reason why Lagos cannot pass a Sharia law.
Again, there is no law that has been passed by the House of Assembly that is not made public or documented in the official website of the House.
Passing a law in the Lagos Assembly follows a well-designed process that takes weeks or months to accomplish. There MUST be a public hearing/stakeholders’ meeting on every bill being prepared for passage.
The House also has 30 journalists covering its activities. Is it not surprising that none did the story of a secret passage of such a law?
Thus, the news should be discarded.
