The Coalition of 70 Civil Society Organizations for Sanwo-Olu, has commended the leadership of the Lagos Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on the credible way the party’s governorship primary was conducted on Thursday, saying, “the outcome was in line with the expectation of the people and political observers alike.
Convener of the Coalition, who is the National President of the Campaign for Dignity in Governance (CDG), Comrade Razaq Olokoba in a statement Friday in Lagos said the outcome of the exercise that gave the incumbent governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu the go ahead for a second term in office tallied with the aspiration of the generality of the people of the state.
According to the statement, the party’s thinking about Sanwo-Olu’s good performance was in tandem with the belief of the greater percentage of the people and residents of the state that, his achievement since 2019 when he became governor was being monitored and eventually appreciated.
Against that background, Olokoba who is also a public commentator expressed the conviction that the Thursday feat would expectedly challenge the governor to be more focussed on his job since the detraction of politicking for a second term has been removed, expressing the need for the people to now rally more round the governor for more democracy dividends to continue to flow from his stable.
While congratulating the governor on the second term ticket, the Coalition reminded him that, “what happened on Thursday was a challenge and clarion call for more work,” adding that, “surmounting the fearful second term hurdle, does not mean relaxing and merry making but a challenge that more hard work is ahead to be braced up for.”
The Coalition however was of the strong conviction that, the primary hurdle surmounted was a clear indication that, “the proper election next year would be a mere formality and victory a foregone conclusion,” expressing therefore the need for the people to maximise their support for the governor for him to be more encourage to do more in terms of democracy dividends delivery.
