The former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Olatunde Obanikoro has extolled the virtues of the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi who passed on recently, describing his death as a great loss not only to the Yoruba race but also to Nigeria and Africa.

The APC stalwart and leading Senatorial aspirant for Lagos West Senatorial District, said that the fact that the Nigerian nation needs the wisdom and knowledge of the reverred Monarch at this very challenging period for the country makes his death very painful in spite of dying at a relatively advanced age of 83.

Describing the late Alaafin as a man of integrity, honesty, and a symbol of unity, the 2-time Minister added that “Oba Adeyemi’s enormous contributions to the development of the Yoruba cannot be overemphasized. He was a king of class and grandeur who did not hesitate to tell the truth to those in power”.

In a statement personally signed by the former Nigerian High Commisioner to Ghana, the late Alaafin was described as a father to the nation who in trying times made several moves aimed at ensuring the nation remains one, adding that the late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi will be sorely missed.
