In a colourful celebration, Jibril Martin High School Agege ‘96 Set Old Student Association were full of excitement and thanksgiving to God as the alumni body marked 25th anniversary reunion.
The event which was held at Academy Inn, Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos featured the launch of the group’s constitution, calendar, inauguration of an executive committee and awards presentation.
Speaking at the event, Austine Smith Ojemada in his inaugural speech expressed his appreciation for been found worthy to lead the association as its pioneer president.
His words,”I am deeply honoured to see that my fellow old students of our beloved school found me worthy to lead them into the new dispensation.
“I would like to give a brief highlight on the journey so far on Jubril Martin High School “96 Set Old Student Association. Our first meeting started in Kole John-Jo’s residence. Subsequent gatherings were anchored by Teslim Badmus and Akeem Opoola, including myself and several others. These strengthened our relationship with one another and brought positive engagements among us.
“Once again, I express my profound gratitude to all committees that made this day a success. As you will all recall, Jubril Martin High School Agege was not the most admired school during our days. But I am glad that today we are here together as one, working towards improving the school and the product thereof.
“I would say it is time to reach out to all of us to come together and develop an agenda that will enable both the current students and alumni associations to grow into better members of our society.
“I am excited to get started with my primary responsibilities as the pioneer president of our association.
“Henceforth, I want to us this opportunity to call on all pioneer members, Working Committee Members and the executives to act fast in performing their responsibilities as required by the constitution.
“I assure you all that our administration will continue to have an open door policy and will work assiduously in improving the quality of education in our beloved JMHS Agege,” he averred.
