A pro-democracy organization, Labour & Workers Welfare Advocacy Centre has expressed excitement over the latest honour accorded the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu by the Board of “Marketing Edge,” the Nigeria’s leading brand and marketing publication.
A statement signed by the Centre’s Coordinator, Omobanke Razak, said the Award so conferred on the governor was a deserved one going by the activities and performances of the governor this past 27 months in the state, congratulating him on the new feather to his cap,
Recall Babajide Sanwo-Olu recently emerged the Political Brand Icon of the Year at the 18th Anniversary of the Marketing Edge Brands and Advertising Awards of Excellence held on Friday at D’podium International Event Centre, Ikeja, where he was conferred the award by the Board of “Marketing Edge”, Nigeria’s leading brand and marketing publication, in recognition of his sterling performance in the management of COVID-19, infrastructure renewal, health sector reforms as well as his laudable strides in empowerment, education and security among others.
Feeling honoured by the Award, the governor, in his speech, the Governor said he, “as the Chief Marketing Officer, Lagos State want to acknowledge and thank Marketing Edge for yet another honour and to say that this is really a call for us to do a lot more because the only reward for good work is more work.”
The group further expressed the delights that, the governor, having promised to continue being the Marketing Brand Ambassador, informed that, “the most viable means of value exchange at this time is technology,” and that, “we have stood up to the call to implant technology at the heart of everything in Lagos as we are becoming a smart city of relevance.”
The group was pleased to hear the “Marketing Edge” maintain that Sanwo-Olu has remained focused, determined and daring in his promise to move Lagos beyond the common standard of excellence through his administration’s T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda, which is driving its projects and policies, agreeing with board that, “It is obvious that the urban renewal train of the Sanwo-Olu administration is already moving at top speed towards the Smart City destination, which it envisions for the state, to the admiration of all stakeholders and the applause of even the international community.”
The Advocacy Centre also thanked the Award organisers that considered the Award as part of their little way of sharing in, and amplifying the iconic success story of Sanwo-Olu’s outstanding leadership over the last two years, enthusing that, “the honour would encourage the governor to do more.
Against this background, the Centre therefore admonished the people to rally round the governor that has turned out to be a prophet with honour at home to do more while tasking the governor himself to see the honour as a clarion call for more hard work.
