Kumbotso Local Government Council Chairman, Alhaji Kabiru Ado Panshekara, has been arrested over alleged abuse of power in the distribution of government palliatives during the lockdown in the state.
He was apprehended by the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption agency.
The council chairman arrest was confirmed by the Commission Chairman, Muhuyi Magaji Rimin-Gado.
It was gathered that Alhaji Panshekara allegedly contravened the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-corruption Commission Law 2008 as amended in the distribution of palliative materials meant for community members in his local government.
According to the commission, the council chairman was alleged to have distributed palliative items to security personnel comprising the Police, DSS and Immigration among others as well as Hisbah personnel; an act which contravenes the provision of Section 22, 23 and 26 of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission Law 2008 as amended.
Rimin-Gado stated further that, the commission in accordance with Section 15(3) of its enabling Law has taken the necessary action against the council boss.
