Lagos State Deputy Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, has called for the preservation of the Yoruba language and cultural heritage, urging collective efforts to pass the values and traditions of the people on to future generations.
Hamzat made the call after featuring on Masoyinbo, a programme focused on the Yoruba language, where he discussed the importance of indigenous languages in preserving cultural identity and strengthening communal bonds.
He noted that Yoruba goes beyond communication, describing it as an integral part of the people’s identity, history and values.
According to him, while diversity remains one of society’s greatest strengths, preserving indigenous languages is a shared responsibility that requires deliberate efforts from individuals and communities.
The APC governorship candidate also stressed that building a greater Lagos must extend beyond investments in infrastructure and public services to include the development of its people, culture and values.
He urged residents to work together to ensure that the state’s rich cultural heritage remains alive for generations to come.
Hamzat commended Masoyinbo for its role in promoting Yoruba language and culture while keeping audiences informed and entertained, both in Lagos and across the world.
