International Inner Wheel District 911 has announced plans to commemorate the 2026 edition of International Women’s Day with an empowerment programme themed “Give to Gain.”

The event is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at the Rotary Centre Ikeja, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

As part of activities marking the global celebration, the organisation will implement an empowerment initiative aimed at supporting five indigent widows with financial and material assistance.

The programme, according to the organisers, is designed to provide direct support to vulnerable members of society while strengthening community development efforts.

A former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Sinatu Ojikutu, will attend the programme as Special Guest. The Guest Speaker for the event is Olufunke Fowler-Amba.

The celebration will also feature a panel discussion focusing on issues affecting women in contemporary society. Panelists expected at the event include Mary Obadina, Temitope Kayode-Ojo, and Oyenike Adeosun.

Speaking on the programme, District Chairman of District 911, Omolola Fakeye, said the event is designed to be both impactful and engaging for participants.

She explained that the programme would combine education, empowerment, and meaningful engagement while reinforcing the organisation’s commitment to community development.

Fakeye added that the initiative goes beyond dialogue by translating advocacy for women’s empowerment into practical support that directly improves lives.

She also noted that students from various senior secondary schools would attend the event to learn and participate in discussions.

International Women’s Day, celebrated annually on March 8, recognises the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women while also promoting gender equality worldwide.

International Inner Wheel, one of the largest women’s service organisations globally, promotes friendship, encourages personal service, and fosters international understanding through humanitarian and community-based initiatives.
