First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on women in leadership positions to deepen their impact by mentoring younger women and promoting economic empowerment across the country.
She made the call on Friday when the Forum of Female Chief Executive Officers of Government Agencies and Organizations paid her a courtesy visit at the Presidential Villa.
Senator Tinubu, who described the CEOs as trailblazers, charged them to replicate themselves in others by providing mentorship and opportunities for younger women.
“Birth yourselves in others. Look for them to mentor them. Replicate yourself in other women and that is the way we would be strong. Make yourselves unforgettable by the things you do outside your office,” she said.
The First Lady also reminded the gathering of the legacies of great matriarchs like Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, Margaret Ekpo, Gambo Sawaba, and Abibat Mogaji, noting that they stood united to fight for the advancement of Nigerian women. She challenged the forum to surpass their legacies by providing scholarships, mentorship, and direct support to younger women, stressing that real impact is measured by individual lives touched, not numbers.
On her advocacy for the completion of the National Library, Senator Tinubu explained that the project would be a lifeline for indigent students in their educational journey.
Speaking on behalf of the forum, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Director General of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), pledged the CEOs’ collective support for the First Lady’s initiatives and President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Your dedication to women’s empowerment is truly inspiring. As a group and as individuals, we affirm our commitment to your initiatives, women’s inclusion, and national development. We also pledge our solidarity with the Renewed Hope Agenda and will work tirelessly for its success,”Dabiri-Erewa said.
A total of 24 female CEOs, heading various government agencies and organizations, were present at the meeting.
