The Chairman-elect of Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, has joined millions of Nigerians in mourning the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Saturday, July 13, 2025, at the age of 82 in London.
In a statement released by his media office, Hon. Johnson described the late former president as a towering figure in Nigeria’s political history—an enigma who defied all odds to defeat a sitting president and secure a place in the nation’s democratic evolution.
“Adieu President Muhammadu Buhari. It is from Allah we come, and to Him we shall all return. Indeed, all souls shall taste death,” the statement began, quoting the Islamic reminder on the inevitability of life’s end.
Reflecting on Buhari’s legacy, the Alimosho Chairman-elect highlighted his unwavering commitment to discipline, duty, and patriotism. Despite the economic and governance criticisms that trailed his administration, Hon. Johnson acknowledged Buhari’s firm stance against corruption, his strides in infrastructure development, and his efforts to tackle insecurity.
“As Nigeria mourns the loss of one of its most consequential leaders, we pray that Allah (SWT) forgives his shortcomings and grants him Al-Jannah Firdaus. May his family, associates, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Nigerian government find strength and comfort during this difficult time,” he added.
