The Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources has issued a 48-hour eviction notice to traders illegally occupying and residing on the median from Ebute-Ero to Oja Oba in Lagos Island.
The directive, announced on Saturday, March 15, by Commissioner Tokunbo Wahab, aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s ongoing efforts to restore order, enhance safety, and maintain environmental cleanliness across the state.
According to Wahab, the government is strictly enforcing its zero-tolerance policy against environmental violations, warning that traders must vacate the illegal spaces immediately.
However, the short notice has triggered concerns among affected traders and residents, who argue that the government has not provided any relocation plan or alternative trading spaces.
Many are calling for a more structured approach to the eviction process.
