Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has charged the newly sworn-in members of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) to prioritize transparency, innovation, and professionalism in their operations.
The governor gave the directive during the swearing-in ceremony of six LASIEC board members on Friday at the Lagos House, Ikeja. In addition, three permanent secretaries were also inaugurated at the event.
Speaking to the LASIEC board led by retired Justice Bola Ighile, Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of upholding democratic principles by ensuring credible and fair council elections.
“I charge you to uphold the highest standards of professionalism. You are the new role models for the entire public service. Your conduct, both on and off duty, must reflect the values of integrity and transparency. Accountability must not be far away from you, and this is the minimum Lagos State demands of you,” Sanwo-Olu said.
The other members of the LASIEC board include Mr. Samson Ajibade (Secretary), Mr. Akeem Durojaye, Mr. Olumide Metileku, Mr. Habeeb Ayileru, and Mr. Oladele Adekanye.
The governor also urged the permanent secretaries to adopt a creative approach in advancing the state’s THEMES Plus Agenda.
“We need you to brainstorm and come up with programmes that will drive innovation and propel the good people of Lagos State to succeed in all ramifications,” he added.
