The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has accused former PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus, of being the true adversary of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Wike made this claim on Thursday at the PDP End-of-Year Thanksgiving in Ahoada East and Ahoada West, Rivers State.

Reacting to Secondus’ recent remarks that Wike is an enemy of Fubara, the former Rivers governor countered, alleging that Secondus actively opposed Fubara’s candidacy during the 2023 gubernatorial race, instead pushing for his cousin, Tele Ikuru, to be governor.

“I kicked out Secondus as PDP National Chairman because he tried to impose his cousin as the governor. Today, he claims to be Fubara’s friend and calls us enemies. To God be the glory,” Wike said.

Wike also criticized Secondus and former Rivers governor Celestine Omehia for backing Fubara in their ongoing political rift. He dismissed allegations that he left uncompleted projects for Fubara, challenging the governor to name any such projects.

The FCT Minister didn’t hold back, branding Omehia an “imbecile” for accusing him of underperformance as a minister. Wike highlighted his achievements during his tenure as Minister of Education, which included establishing the Faculty of Law at the University of Port Harcourt and granting funds to Rivers-based institutions.

“Even as FCT Minister, I cannot bring road projects to Rivers State, but I have secured more political appointments for Rivers people under President Tinubu than any other governor in this state’s history,” Wike boasted.

At the event, Wike praised Chibudum Nwuche, the chief host and former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, for his steadfastness and inclusivity in politics.

Meanwhile, Nwuche commended President Bola Tinubu for appointing Wike as FCT Minister, lauding his transformative efforts in Abuja and his developmental legacy in Rivers State.

The event was attended by prominent figures, including former Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and several members of the House of Representatives, among others.
