Popular Nigerian cross-dresser, Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, better known as Bobrisky, was arrested at the Seme border between Nigeria and Benin Republic in the early hours of Monday, October 21, 2024.
According to reports, Bobrisky, disguised as a woman, attempted to leave Nigeria through the border.
However, his plan was foiled when a senior immigration officer became suspicious and interrogated him.
During the questioning, it was revealed that Bobrisky was indeed male. When asked about his travel plans, he claimed he was on his way to visit a friend in Benin Republic.
This arrest follows a recent encounter with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), during which Bobrisky was detained for alleged financial crimes and sent to the Kirikiri Correctional Centre.
While in custody, he reportedly implicated senior prison officials in a bribery scandal, as well as EFCC officers, accusing them of financial inducement.
Bobrisky was scheduled to appear in court today in connection with these charges, but instead, he attempted to flee the country.
Sources confirm that Bobrisky is now in the custody of Nigerian Immigration officers at Seme and is being transferred to Abuja for further processing.
