Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity and Official Spokesperson for the President, has announced that he will be taking an indefinite leave of absence to address pressing medical concerns affecting his immediate family.
In a statement released on Friday, Ngelale expressed the difficult decision to step away from his duties after extensive consultations with his family.
Ngelale, who also serves as the Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action and the Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen, acknowledged that the nation’s affairs wait for no one, but stressed that the growing health crisis at home required his full attention.
“This agonizing decision… was taken after significant consultations with my family over the past several days as a vexatious medical situation has worsened at home,” Ngelale wrote in the statement.
While he did not disclose the specifics of the medical issue, the veteran media professional conveyed the gravity of the situation that led to the pause in his official functions.
He expressed a desire to return to his duties when time, healing, and circumstances allow.
Meanwhile, Ngelale has requested privacy for himself and his family during this challenging period.
Ngelale’s departure comes at a crucial time in the administration, with his roles spanning critical areas such as media strategy, climate action, and oversight of major national projects.
