Nigerian Idol Season Nine Unveils Star-Studded Judging Panel

MultiChoice Nigeria has revealed the schedule for the ninth edition of the beloved music talent competition, Nigerian Idol. Alongside this announcement, the brand introduced a fresh panel of judges comprising three renowned singers: 9ice, Omawumi, and Ric Hassani.

In a statement provided to Saturday Beats, it was highlighted that Omawumi, known for her impressive career and previous stint as a guest judge in the seventh season, is set to bring her extensive experience and expertise to the judging panel. The “Bottom Belle” crooner expressed her intention to use her journey to inspire contestants, guiding them as they pursue their own paths to success.

Ric Hassani, celebrated for his soulful voice and meaningful lyrics, will share his invaluable insights and experiences with contestants, encouraging them to embrace their uniqueness and pursue their aspirations boldly.

Adding to the panel, 9ice, famed for his storytelling prowess in music, will contribute his wealth of knowledge and perspective to provide contestants with a glimpse into the intricacies of the music industry.

Reflecting on the upcoming season, MultiChoice’s Executive Head of Content and Channels, West Africa, Busola Tejumola, remarked, “Nigerian Idol has consistently set the benchmark for music talent shows in Africa, and Season Nine is set to continue this tradition. With the addition of the new judges, viewers can anticipate unparalleled talent, excitement, and entertainment. We are proud to showcase Nigeria’s immense musical talent and eagerly anticipate another remarkable season.”

Themed “Let Your Dreams Take Flight,” the show is scheduled to premiere on April 21, 2024.
