In a significant stride towards maintaining law and order, the Nigeria Police Force, under the leadership of Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D, NPM, has announced the successful arrest of 67 suspects involved in various criminal activities plaguing the nation.

The operations were spearheaded by the Police Intelligence Department Tactical Team – DFI-IRT and DFI-STS.

The arrested individuals, apprehended for crimes including kidnapping, gunrunning, one-chance incidents, armed robbery, and banditry, now face the consequences of their actions.

The Police operation also led to the recovery of a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition, totaling 5,454 rounds of live ammunition of different calibers, 300 live cartridges, 50 empty ammunition shells, 68 rifles, and 33 ATM cards, among other items.

A notable achievement in these endeavors is the arrest of three suspects linked to a gunrunning syndicate responsible for the Christmas Eve attack on villages in Plateau State.

The arrested individuals, Ahmed Sulaimon, Balikisu Aliyu, and Aboki Samuel, are currently in police custody, aiding ongoing investigations.

The recovery from their possession included 1 AK-47 rifle, 1 AK-49 rifle, 1000 rounds of live ammunition, and 5 magazines.

Furthermore, the Police successfully apprehended four suspects connected to a bank robbery in Otukpo, leading to the recovery of nine AK-47 rifles.

During a fierce gun duel at their hideout in Taraku village, Buruku LGA of Benue State, five suspects succumbed to the superior firepower of the Police operatives.

The arrested suspects confessed to their involvement in the heinous act and implicated other gang members, namely Terzungwe Shionda a.k.a ‘3-star general’ (now deceased), Terlumum Pila, and one Ayuko, who are currently at large.

These individuals were identified as the alleged suppliers of arms on loan for their criminal operations.

In response to these achievements, IGP Egbetokun reiterated the unwavering commitment of the Police to ensuring the safety and security of citizens.

The relentless crackdown on criminals and criminal activities underscores the dedication of the Police Force to creating a safe environment for everyone in Nigeria.

The successful operations demonstrate the efficacy of strategic interventions and the tireless efforts of law enforcement in curbing crime across the nation.
