A Tribe Called Judah By Funke Akindele Is 2023 Highest Grossing Film

Nollywood actress Funke Akindele’s “A Tribe called Judah” has become the highest grossing film of the year 2023 after crossing over N613M just 14 days after its release.

The film was released on the 15 of December 2023 across different countries of the world, the film became the first to gross over N133M in its first or opening  weekend, even though the actress revealed the film was dedicated to her mother, because it reflected part of her life.

Funke Akindele posted an appreciation message on her social media handle, she said; “Thank you Lord!! Thank You Nigeria!!

We are grateful for the record-breaking journey of ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ in Nigeria and West Africa.  #1 movie! 

Thanks for making it the biggest film of this year 

To the cast and crew members of this great movie, we say THANK YOU!! We made a movie!!

This is definitely an ultimate cinematic triumph of 2023!

If you haven’t seen make sure you make it a date this week to see the biggest movie in Nigeria”

Other film to gross high in the current year includes, Orisa by Odunlade Adekola grossing over N127M, Itele’s “Kesari” which is currently running in the cinemas has been able to gross over, N77M and then we also have Moses Inwang’s “Merry Men” grossing over N117M. 

However Funke Akindele’s “Battle on Buka Street” continue to maintain the number position of the highest grossing film in the country, with over N668M since it’s release in 2022, the top five includes; Battle on Buka street, Omo Ghetto, The Wedding Party 1 & 2, And Chief Daddy completing the top five currently.
