Former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Dr Adeyemi Ikuforiji has congratulated President Bola Tinubu on his victory at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.

The five man Tribunal led by Justice Haruna Tsammani dismissed all cases filed against President Tinubu by the Presidential candidates of the PDP, Labour Party and the Allied Movement Party during the February 25th Election.

It therefore declared Tinubu as the duly elected President of the country.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC had declared Tinubu winner of the poll on March first after scoring 8, 794, 827 votes while Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic got 6,984, 520 votes and Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi came third with 6,101, 583 votes.

However, Atiku, Obi and the candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, Chichi Ojei decided to approach the Tribunal claiming that INEC failed to comply with Electoral Act in the conduct, that the APC candidate was not qualified to participate and asked it to nullify the results of the election declared by INEC.

Adeyemi Ikuforiji said the unanimous verdict by the Tribunal reconfirmed the overwhelming support of the President during the exercise.

The former Speaker however urged the leading candidates at the election to support President Tinubu towards the delivery of electioneering campaign promises to the people.
