Residents of Abokunloko, Ijegu and Ikotun – Egbe, Lagos on Thursday commended Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu on ongoing channelization of canal in the area.
On behalf of the residents of the community, one of the community leaders, Mr. Lukmon Hassan Isiba, thanked Lagos state government for coming to their aid in combating flood which have been ravaging and damaging properties in Abokunloko area of Ikotun – Egbe axis of the state.
According to him, this is about the forth time that this canal is channeled under the administration of Sanwoolu, but this time around, the contractor handling the project, R.O.B Machineries Ltd, is doing a wonderful, professional job considering it’s expertise and the equipments the company used for the channelization and evacuation of dirt in the canal to curtail flooding and ensure easy flow of waste water along the IPI channel in Ikotun – Egbe.
Another resident, Prophet Ademola Samuel, who heads a church close to the canal, specially thanked Governor Babajide Sanwoolu for his efforts in ensuring that all canals in the state, especially the ones in Ikotun axis are channeled periodically before, during and after every rainy seasons since the beginning of his administration, and appealed to all residents in Lagos state to stop disposing refuse in drainages and canals in order to prevent blockages.
