Governor – elect of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno has dedicated his victory at the polls to the Almighty God, whom he said is the giver of power.
Pastor Eno stated this during a brief celebration at his Uyo residence shortly after he was formally declared elected by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) having polled a total of 356, 348 votes to defeat candidates of the YPP, APC, NNPP and Labour Party who scored 136262, 129602, 12509, and 4746 respectively.
The Governor-elect who was surrounded by hundreds of excited members of his team, supporters, family members, friends and associates appreciated Akwa Ibom people for standing by him and for electing him to succeed the incumbent, Mr Udom Emmanuel.
He called on candidates of all the other political parties to sheath their swords and join hands with him to build Akwa Ibom State stressing that the political party is just a platform, but the state belonged to everyone.
According to him, “I call on every Akwa Ibomite to join hands with me let us build our state. Like I said before, we have only one Akwa Ibom, political parties are mere platforms. I am extending a hand of friendship and fellowship to everybody as we thank God for the victory.They should all come, let us work together. Now, let the happy hour begin.”
In a related development, it was gathered that the victory of Pastor Umo Eno threw the state into unprecedented excitement as many people gathered in their different clusters at relaxation spots, streets, churches and others to display their boundless joy through different means while discussing the peaceful conclusion of the electoral process.
