As a student in Nigeria, you must be able to make money through a legit hustle. It could be online through a soft skill or by offering services to students. This is why the Federal Ministry of Education in Nigeria encourages secondary students before getting admission into a university or students who are in the universities to learn a vocational skill to sustain themselves while in school or after graduating from school. I will like to share few ideas on  practical ways to make money in school as a student in Nigeria.

Firstly, you must have a vocational skill. Examples of vocational skills are: Fashion design, photography, digital marketing, make up artist, cooking, hairstylist and Graphic designs e.t.c. There are Several ways you can create awareness of your business to other students in the universities in Nigeria in other for you to be patronized. Some of the ways are sharing hand bills advertising your business, advertising on school platforms, advertising on social platforms like Facebook, whatsapp and Instagram and so on.

Another way to make money legitely or earn living as a student in Nigeria is through your mobile phones.

As we all know that the world is evolving and there are various ways to make money legitely online using your mobile phones.

Few Ways to make money online using your mobile phone:

  • Working as an online translator I.e someone who assists a writer to translate words to the writer’s desired language. Examples of Websites that pays you to translate are fiverr, acclaro, textmaster, go script and peopleperhour.com.
  • Working freelance in, literally, every expertise: Aside working as an online translator, there are websites you will see job posting asking for help in various fields like Digital marketing, copywriting and video editing. If you are an expert in this fields you can offer to help and get paid. Some of the websites are upwork, freelancer, and fiverr.
  • Making voice over: Each of us has a unique voice. Projects on platforms like Voices.com are always looking for audio talent for commercials, animation, video games, narrators, storytellers, and instructors, etc. The most popular styles that they look for include approachable, authentic, conversational, friendly, and believable. If you’ve got a quiet room and want to see how your voice may deliver ideas, have a go at online acting today!
  • Transcribing audio clips: If you can pay attention and type fast, consider being a transcriptionist for some quick cash. On sites such as TranscribeMe, you can transcribe 2-4 minute audio clips in any language you’re fluent in and earn in dollar anywhere from $15 to $25 an hour. Make sure your grammar and spellings are up to par though!

In respective of your vocational skill as a student you should schedule days you are going to be working or offering your services to your customers so as to balance your education life with your business so you won’t be lagging behind in the your education.
