A coalition of over 70 human rights groups and pro-democracy organizations under the umbrella of the Campaign for Dignity in Governance (CDG), has congratulated the Kwara State Governor, Abdur-Rahaman Abdur-Razaq on his successful clinching of the second term ticket of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Convener and National President of the Coalition, Comrade Razaq Olokoba in a chat with newsmen in Ilorin, the state capital Sunday, described the feat as a well-deserved one saying, the governor’s dogged commitment to satisfying the yearnings and aspirations of the good people of Kwara from the day he was sworn-in as governor in 2019 has qualified him for a second term in office.
According to the renowned right activist and political analyst stated that, Abdur-Razaq’s efforts at developing the infrastructure that will grow the economy of the state are commendable and praise-worthy adding that, “what makes Abdur-Razaq’s performance heart-warming is that the projects he provided are evenly distributed across the state evenly and indiscriminately.”
While felicitating with the governor for his second term ticket, the Ilorin born activist, Olokoba reminded the governor that, “the feat is a clarion call to remain hard-working and more focused on the job of building a better Kwara,” warning subtly however that, “it is not for relaxation or for relenting on his oars but for more superlative performance he is known for.”
While asserting that it would be difficult for any other candidate from any political party to defeat the incumbent in the next year’s poll, the impressive activist said “the governor’s strive to move the state forward to the promise land is noted and appreciated by the highly enlightened people of the state,” submitting that, “Abdur-Razaq’s performance is speaking louder than his own voices because his impacts on the people are so concrete and visible that, even the blind could see.”
The Coalition boss disclosed that, “I can say categorically that Abdur-Rahaman Abdur-Razaq has performed excellently without fear of contradiction because when our members tour the whole state recently un announced, we saw first-hand that his signature is all over the place,” establishing the fact that, “the leadership of the APC in the state did not misfre by giving him the go ahead with a second term ticket.”
According to Olokoba, the APC leadership in the state deserves commendation for acting well and correctly by giving Abdur-Razaq the second term ticket, saying, “with that development, all the distraction tendencies have been wiped out from the governor’s path to delivery of more democracy dividends to the good people of our state.”
Against that background, the youth leader therefore assured the governor that all his group’s members would be mobilised to the state with sole aim of galvanizing the people from across the state to vote massively for the performer,” insisting that, “changing a winning team like that of Abdur-Razaq in the middle of the game would sadly constitute a cog in the wheel of continuity required for rapid development and growth.”
Olokoba therefore expressed the need for maximum support for and cooperate with the governor in his onerous task of building a new state that would be conducive for both local and international investments, enthusing that, “from the looks of things, the second term of Abdur-Rahaman Abdur-Razaq would be more eventful than his first term if supported by the people and residents of the state.”
