Director General, Ileri-Oluwa Campaign Organisation, the campaign outfit of Osun State Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, Ajibola Famurewa, has raised the alarm over plot by assassins to kill nine more chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
It would be recall that gunmen assassinated the Chairman of APC in Atakumosa East Local Government, Chief Gbenga Ogbara, while his son, Aregbesola and wife sustained injuries during the attack at Igangan.
The DG during a condolence visit to the bereaved family, expressed shock about the incident.
His words,”We are approaching the election and Igangan is one of the strongest zones of the APC. What the perpetrators are trying to do is to weaken the strength of our party. Four years ago, they attempted to kill Chief Ogbara, but he escaped and his house was razed.
“We learnt that the assassins have been telling people in the area that 10 people have been pencilled down for assassination, believing that if they are murdered, it will give them access during the election. Unfortunately, the APC chairman is their first victim.”
Police Commissioner Olawale Olokode promised that his operatives would arrest the perpetrators.
