The lawmaker representing Osun west senatorial district, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, died as a result of overdose of drugs, Mad House Naija reliably gathered.
Serubawon as he was fondly called by admirers, was rushed to Biket Hospital in Osogbo, capital of Osun, after suffering heart attack. He subsequently died in the early hours of Sunday.
Family members and political associates received the news with shock.
His burial fixed for Sunday was postponed as there were reports that Adedeji, his younger brother and father of Davido, Nigerian music star, directed that an autopsy should be conducted before the burial.
Sources revealed that the result of the autopsy, which is yet to be made public, shows that he was not poisoned as some people in Ede, his hometown, had been insinuating.
It was reliably gathered that in his lifetime, the lawmaker suffered from pains in one of his legs. As a result of this, Adeleke regularly used painkilling injections.
“This had been going on for a while. However, an overdose of the injection led to the heart attack that eventually claimed his life,” a family source said
