The Muslim Community of Lagos State (MCLS) has charged the six newly appointed Permanent Secretaries in the state to discharge their responsibilities with fear of Allah, integrity, fairness and dedication to public service.
The community also congratulated the appointees on their elevation, describing their appointments by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu as a call to greater responsibility and an opportunity to contribute to the development of Lagos State.
MCLS, in a statement signed by its President, Hon. Mohammed Oyinlomo Danmole, and Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Jubril Folami, particularly celebrated the three Muslim appointees: Dr. Olawale Mahadiyu Adegbite, Mr. Adebayo Mubashiru Haroun and Mrs. Bilquees Toyin Adekoya, Principal/Director of Education, Education District VI.
The community said the appointments of the three Muslim professionals were a source of encouragement to Muslims in Lagos, urging them to use the opportunity to demonstrate professionalism, justice, accountability and commitment to service.
While congratulating all six appointees, MCLS urged them to regard their new positions not simply as professional achievements but as a sacred trust requiring diligence, fairness, humility and an unwavering commitment to the public good.
The community particularly reminded the Muslim appointees that public office is an Amanah (trust) for which they would ultimately be accountable before Almighty Allah.
It urged them to allow Islamic principles of justice, honesty, compassion, transparency and accountability to guide their decisions and dealings with the people.
Quoting Qur’an 4:58, the community said: “Indeed, Allah commands you to render trusts to whom they are due and when you judge between people to judge with justice.”
According to MCLS, the injunction underscores the need for integrity in leadership, adding that the privileges attached to public office must be matched by a sincere commitment to the welfare of the people.
The community further urged the new Permanent Secretaries to bring their experience, expertise and administrative competence to bear on their respective assignments, promote efficiency in the public service and support policies that improve the lives of Lagos residents.
It also called on them to treat citizens fairly, irrespective of religion, ethnicity or social standing, while working collaboratively with colleagues to uphold the highest standards of public service.
MCLS expressed confidence that the new Permanent Secretaries would contribute meaningfully to the administration’s efforts to improve governance and service delivery across the state.
The community prayed that Almighty Allah would grant the appointees wisdom, sound judgment, strength and sincerity of purpose to discharge their responsibilities effectively.
It also appreciated Governor Sanwo-Olu for the appointments, expressing the hope that the new Permanent Secretaries would justify the confidence reposed in them through exemplary leadership, professionalism and measurable contributions to the development of Lagos State.
