For many Nigerians, achieving healthy skin has become a frustrating journey marked by endless experimentation with different skincare products, many of which often leave users with more complications than solutions.
It is this growing concern that inspired the birth of Yokuro Skincare, a Nigerian skincare brand officially unveiled in Lagos with a promise to redefine skincare through scientifically developed products tailored to the needs of African skin.

The official launch, held at the SOTO Gallery, Ikoyi, attracted skincare enthusiasts, medical professionals, beauty industry stakeholders and invited guests, all eager to witness the unveiling of a brand that seeks to combine medical expertise with natural skincare solutions.
Speaking at the event, the Founder of Yokuro Skincare and UK trained General Practitioner (GP) Trainer, Dr. Adetola Adegoke, said the vision behind the brand was born out of years of interacting with people struggling to find products that truly address their skin concerns.
According to her, the increasing number of people suffering from skin irritation and other skin related conditions highlighted the urgent need for products that are safe, effective and developed with a proper understanding of different skin types.

“The inspiration behind Yokuro came from seeing how many people were worried about finding the right skincare products. I wanted to create a brand that gives people confidence that they are using products specifically designed to improve the health of their skin.”
Dr. Adegoke observed that one of the biggest challenges facing many skincare users is the lack of knowledge about their own skin.
She explained that many people purchase products based on trends or recommendations without first understanding whether those products are suitable for their skin type.
“Many people do not even know their skin type, and if you do not know your skin type, it becomes almost impossible to choose products that will truly benefit your skin. That is why education is a major part of what we do.”
She noted that the indiscriminate use of multiple skincare products has left many people battling more severe skin conditions than they originally had.
According to her, Yokuro Skincare was created to reverse that trend by providing carefully formulated products backed by scientific research and extensive testing.
“People have tried different creams, soaps and skincare routines without getting the desired results. In many cases, those experiments only made the condition worse. We developed these products to provide lasting solutions rather than temporary relief.”
The dermatologist announced that the company is launching eight products in its first range, including anti ageing solutions designed to address different skincare needs.
Explaining the philosophy behind the brand, Dr. Adegoke said the name ‘Yokuro’, derived from the Yoruba language, reflects its mission.
“Yokuro means removing imperfections and irritation from the skin. Our goal is to help people restore healthy skin through products they can trust.”
With over a decade of professional experience, Dr. Adegoke said the journey towards establishing the brand was neither rushed nor driven by commercial interests.
She disclosed that she has spent more than two years providing skincare support to clients with varying needs while continuously refining the formulations that eventually became Yokuro Skincare.
“These products did not happen overnight. They have gone through consumer testing and clinical trials. We wanted to be certain that what we were bringing to the market would deliver the expected results and earn the confidence of consumers.”
She stressed that quality and credibility remained the driving forces behind the brand, adding that meeting regulatory requirements demanded patience, commitment and strict adherence to established standards.
“It takes time to build something that people can trust. We went through every necessary process because we are not interested in quick fixes. We are building a brand that will stand the test of time.”
The founder assured customers that the company would remain committed to its guiding philosophy, captured in its slogan, “Remove, Replenish and Reinforce.”
According to her, the brand is determined to deliver skincare products that not only solve immediate skin concerns but also nourish and strengthen the skin for long term health.
She also expressed satisfaction with the impressive turnout at the official unveiling, describing it as an indication of the growing demand for reliable skincare solutions.
Dr. Adegoke further revealed that all Yokuro Skincare products are proudly manufactured in Nigeria, demonstrating the country’s capacity to produce world class skincare solutions using local expertise.
Beyond the formal unveiling, guests experienced firsthand the brand’s holistic approach to skincare through complimentary massages, free skin consultations, botanical displays, interactive games, engaging content sessions and souvenir presentations.
As conversations around skincare continue to evolve, Yokuro Skincare enters the Nigerian market with an ambitious vision of combining medical knowledge, consumer education and locally produced innovations to help Nigerians make informed skincare choices and achieve healthier skin.
