The Lagos State House of Assembly has confirmed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s nominees for the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), reaffirming its dedication to upholding credible and transparent electoral processes in the state.
The Lagos State House of Assembly on Tuesday approved the appointments of key nominees for the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), alongside other state agencies, following a rigorous screening process.
The confirmation came after a 12-member ad-hoc committee led by the Chief Whip, Hon. Mojeed Fatai, reviewed the nominees’ credentials and qualifications. Addressing the House, Hon. Fatai highlighted that each candidate was thoroughly evaluated and deemed capable of delivering on the responsibilities of their respective roles.
Hon. Sa’ad Olumoh, another member of the House, praised the nominees as “round pegs in round holes,” commending their professional expertise and impressive qualifications.
For LASIEC, the confirmed appointees include:
• Hon. Justice Bola Okikiolu Ighile (Rtd.) – Chairman
• Samson Ajibade – Member
• Oluwo Akin Durojaiye – Member
• Dr. Metilelu Olumide Olusola – Member
• Aileru Abeeb Dapo – Member
• Hon. Oladele Adekanye – Member
In addition to the LASIEC appointments, the House also confirmed nominations for the following roles:
• Office of the Auditor-General: Mr. Adetola Muyiwa John
• General Manager, Lagos State Electricity Board (LSEB): Engr. Balogun Kamaldeen Abiodun Temidayo
• Executive Secretary, Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF): Mrs. Feyisayo Alayande
The plenary, presided over by Deputy Speaker Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, emphasized the Assembly’s commitment to enhancing governance in Lagos State.
In her remarks, Hon. Meranda noted that the confirmations reflect the Assembly’s drive to support the state’s development through strategic leadership appointments.
